New Education-Based Medical Marijuana Dispensary CANNA+U™ Opens in South Mississippi

Cann+U Open for business Open for business. A CANNA+U Cannalyst™ assists a patient.

(DIAMONDHEAD, Miss., Nov. 22, 2023) – CANNA+U™ Diamondhead Dispensary, a medical marijuana dispensary in Diamondhead, Mississippi is now open to residents and visitors to South Mississippi. Branding itself as “The Higher Ed. of Cannabis,” CANNA+U and its specially trained staff members known as Cannalysts™ seek to provide a more information-based environment for patients looking into medical marijuana for treatment of one of the 20 qualifying conditions approved by the state.

Since the legal use of marijuana for medical purposes is new in Mississippi, CANNA+U is putting education at the forefront to help remove the sometimes uncomfortable feeling that someone who is new to cannabis might feel. The CANNA+U team has found that those uncomfortable feelings generally come from the stigma that has been associated with marijuana as a recreational drug for years.

“We’re out to change that. We cater not only to customers with a medical card, but those who just want to learn more before taking that step to visit a provider,” says Chandlor Schickedanz, Chief Cannalyst. “For those who have their card and know generally what they want, we have one of the best selections anywhere –– 47 different strains of flower, 55 different vape cartridges, 13 different kinds of concentrates, 42 different flavors of edibles, 45 different pre rolls, and five different topicals.”

“For those who don’t know exactly what they want, we work with them at an individualized level to help determine what product form would be best for them. We also have a process to craft each person’s unique ‘Terpene Profile,’ which is a combination of their preferences in terms of fragrance, taste and appearance combined with information about what product forms typically work best for their ailment. We go through the different product forms to figure out what might be best from a variety of angles.”

For those who are not aware of how it works, a Mississippi Medical Marijuana card allows a patient to purchase no more than six MCEUs (Medical Cannabis Equivalency Units) or 21 grams (less than ¾ ounce) every seven days. That information is stored in a statewide database, so whenever a person makes a purchase at CANNA+U for example, it is reported that to the statewide database, so when they come back or visit another location, the real-time database shows how much more they can purchase or if they are at their limit. There are also possession limits that come into play.

“There’s a lot to know and learn,” says Schickedanz. “But we can break it down and help make sense of it all.”

CANNA+U will be hosting ongoing classes all open to anyone who wishes to register –– not just those who have a card. If a customer attends and passes all nine modules, they will receive a certificate of completion. The team at CANNA+U suggests signing up for their mailing list on the website CannaU.com and following them on Facebook or Instagram to get updates.

CANNA+U’s Cannalysts are also well-versed in helping people get pointed in the right direction to obtain a Mississippi medical marijuana card for a qualifying condition if they don’t already have one.

“We want the first thing people think of when they see the ‘U’ in CANNA+U is ‘understanding,’” says Schickedanz. “We’re that local resource here to provide South Mississippi with a better understanding of medical marijuana’s benefits. Any questions or concerns that patients have, we’re here to answer them. Understanding leads to healing.”

Schickedanz was born in the South and graduated high school from St. Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis. Following a college football career, he spent more than a decade developing industry knowledge and experience in marijuana cultivation, distribution, processing and manufacturing in Northern California’s Emerald Triangle, the largest cannabis-producing region in the United States. It was there that he cultivated some of the state’s most well-known strains and wholesale distribution to successful dispensaries reaching from Los Angeles to the Bay Area. Now, after the legalization of medical marijuana in the state of Mississippi, Schickedanz has returned to the South to bring his years of expertise to CANNA+U.

“Being able to assist patients with their medical marijuana needs while educating them about the plant brings me great joy,” said Schickedanz. “I’m extremely fortunate to love what I do for a living and be able to share that love with others. The overwhelming support from South Mississippi for this medical marijuana program has inspired me to provide the best overall patient experience possible. At CANNA+U, we pride ourselves in being the most knowledgeable and personable cannabis advisors in the region.”
